Marriott Golf announced that Chris Flynn, Director of Grounds for Grande Pines Golf Club and Faldo Golf Institute, located in Orlando, Florida., was named Golf Grounds Manager of the Year. This marks the second time that Flynn has been recognized as Golf Grounds Manager of the Year, previously receiving recognition in 2008, since the inception of the award in 1998.
The award is based on performance excellence for current and previous years in various categories, including maintaining turfgrass conditions, successful large scale renovation or construction projects, loss prevention efforts, personnel development, operating within budget, active pursuit of industry-wide certifications and education, and more.
Under Flynn’s guidance, Grande Pines Golf Club underwent successful refinements, including bunker restorations and landscape modifications, designed to improve the playability of the course while also delivering a high overall golf satisfaction score. In addition to his exceptional work at Grande Pines, Flynn was responsible for supervising a renovation at Grande Vista Golf Club, which included bunker and greens renovations, and the installation of new tees at Faldo Golf Institute. This project also resulted in a high overall golf satisfaction score.
“We are happy to recognize Chris Flynn as our Golf Grounds Manager of the Year for the second time,” said Robert Waller, Senior Director of Golf Grounds, Marriott Golf. “Chris is truly deserving of this honor as he is committed to ensuring that Marriott Golf customers enjoy a first-class experience and product every time they visit the course.”
