Mission Inn Golf Resort features 36 holes of championship golf. Built in 1917, Mission Inn's El Campeon is one of the south's oldest and most historical, prestigious golf courses. Mission Inn's Las Colinas was built in 1992 and designed by former PGA Tour player and TV commentator, Gary Koch.
Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places To Play" (2008) and nominated as Golf Digest's 1992 "Best New Resort Course," Mission Inn's Las Colinas courses offers quite a different challenge from El Campeon. Its wide open fairways and gently rolling hills create an inland links design that contrasts and at the same time, compliments its older sister course.
Mission Inn's Las Colinas course features large and undulating greens, while the course's classic old architecture style demands proper shot placement. Water can be found on 14 holes and again, large berms are found to framework numerous fairways. Discover nature in its natural habitat along with abundant wildlife where this championship layout was carved out of historic orange groves. The signature par 5, 12th hole "Alligator Alley," spans 493 yards along one of the tree-lined fairways, requiring absolute accuracy from tee to green.
El Campeon architect George O'Neil of Chicago blended unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design. Rolling fairways (some dramatic), undulating greens and well-placed berms, bunkers and sandy waste areas, as well as water on 11 holes, all only begin to characterize the aura of El Campeon. The course's signature hole is the par 5, 17th, a long, double dogleg that has more obstacles than some entire courses.
Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places To Play" (2008), El Campeon ranks highly among Central Florida golf courses. The Spanish-style resort looks magnanimous in the background, adjacent to several course holes. The resort is an easy 35-40 minute drive from most Orlando areas.
Mission Inn Golf Resort finished outside of the top 10 best golf courses in Orlando 2013, but it is well worthy of your consideration among the many Orlando golf courses.
