There was speculation in September that Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club in Davenport, Florida was on the verge of closing its doors. Fortunately, the speculation proved false as there was a compromise between the membership and ownership. The course is open for play.
Rated by Golf Digest as the Best New Course in 1994, Ridgewood Lake Golf Club, a Ted McAnlis layout, is a truly diverse test of Florida golf. After a recent remodel the course now features new Champions Turf greens, new bunkers, leveled tee boxes and lush landscaping to provide a tropical feel for a true Florida golf course experience. Both nines at Ridgewood Lakes feature strategically placed hazards and fairways framed by sparkling white sand bunkers. Par-4 and par-5 holes have generous landing areas visible form the tee.
Water and wetlands come into play on 16 holes. Fortunately for the novice golfer, the fairways are wide and forgiving. With a fun layout and quality conditions, an enjoyable golfing experience awaits with strategic shotmaking on approach shots into the greens.
Like most Florida golf courses, Ridgewood Lakes plays over 7,000 yards from the championship tees.
