Orange County National is stepping up to support select Orlando area charities in their efforts to assist local families in need of food, clothing and shelter. With the effects of the recession taking a large toll on many central Florida residents, the need for this type of assistance is greater than ever. Five charities that perform outstanding work in this area have been selected to be recipients of the funds raised by OCN in this effort:
- Coalition for the Homeless
- Orlando Rescue Mission
- Orlando Sentinel Family Fund
- Second Harvest Food Bank
- St. Vincent DePaul Society – Holy Family Catholic Church
General Manager Bruce Gerlander explained "Every day you hear another story about the huge need for assistance with the basic necessities of life for an ever growing percentage of our community. Those of us fortunate enough to be surviving these difficult times have an obligation to help those that life has dealt a rough hand to. Part of our company mission has always been to support our community through a variety of charitable efforts so this is just one of the many things we do throughout the year to help our neighbors."
Orange County National is requesting donors to make contributions of at least $50 to any or all of the charities in the program. For every donation of $50 or greater contributed by December 31, 2009, Orange County National will give the donor a certificate valid for four (4) complimentary green fees. (A $10 cart fee per person will apply and play date restrictions apply).
"We have set a goal of raising at least $10,000 over the next 30 days. We will need the help of many people to get the word out regarding this initiative in order to reach this goal, but we certainly think that it is attainable. These certificates make great Christmas presents and the charities will really appreciate the support at this time of year" added Gerlander.
Donors should send in checks made out to the charity(s) to Orange County National along with their mailing address.
