Orlando Golf

The annual George DeSalvia Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Orange County National Golf Club on Saturday, May 30, 2009.  The cost is $75 per golfer or $300 per foursome.  The registration fee includes golf, lunch buffet and foursome picture.  Sponsorships for the event are still available.

The event is played in memory of Orlando Police Officer George DeSalvia who was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 3, 2000.  He was backing up a fellow officer on a traffic stop when the driver jumped out of the car and began shooting, hitting George one time in the head and killing him.  George left behind three children and a lifetime of memories.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida is gearing up for its Celebrate the Children 2009 Orlando golf tournament fundraiser at Champions Gate Golf Club.  The event includes a reception and silent auction on May 13, 2009.  The golf tournament will be played on May 15, 2009.

The reception and silent acution will be held at the Rosen Centre Hotel from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Individual tickets for the reception are $400.

Mystic Dunes Golf Club, widely considered one of the top Orlando golf courses, will be offering a special discounted rate this summer to individuals in the emergency services community.

"Mystic Dunes Golf Club wants to recognize this group of everyday heroes by inviting them to play the course at a very special discounted rate, as our way of thanking them for their service to our community," said Rick Smith, Mystic Dunes Director of Golf.

Bill Harper and Mark Krone teamed up to claim victory in the West Orange Country Club Member-Guest tournament.

The tournament was held April 30, 2009 thru May 2, 2009.

Finishing with a 3 over par total 147, Jeff Sunday won the Club Championship at West Orange Country Club on April 4-5, 2009.  After firing a 75 in the first round, Sunday fired a final round 72 to claim his 7th career Club Championship.

The David Maus Foundation will hold its 5th annual golf tournament fundraiser on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Champions Gate Golf Club.  The tournament benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

Known as one of the better charity events in Orlando, the David Maus Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament pairs each team with a major league sports athlete or entertainment performer.

The event begins the evening before on Sunday, May 17th at the ChampionsGate Clubhouse during the Meet the Pros event. All guests are invited to meet the Celebrity players, bid on auction items and enjoy the food and entertainment. On Monday morning participants can register, take part in a Pro Golfer Clinic and enjoy breakfast with an 8:30am shotgun start.
