Golfweek has announced Orlando resident Annika Sorenstam will be a headliner in the entertainment lineup for the 2010 Golfest event series. Sorenstam's presence adds further excitement and acclaim to the golf exhibition event series, which marks the 7th anniversary for the magazine's flagship event.
"I'm excited to participate in Golfweek's Golfest this year as it is a perfect way to share my passion for our sport and raise awareness for my foundation, which teaches children the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition," Sorenstam said.
Scheduled to appear at Golfweek's Golfest Orlando (held Jan. 23-24 at ChampionsGate Golf Club) and Golfweek's Golfest The Villages (held March 5-6 at The Polo Fields), Sorenstam will headline the popular events' Main Stage entertainment, giving golf tips and discussing her remarkable career before participating in a meet-and-greet with attendees.
I received an email recently from a friend about a residential lot available for sale that would be perfect for any golf enthusiast. From all indications, this is the only vacant residential lot located on the prestigious Bay Hill Golf Club. The lot overlooks the 3rd green and 4th tee boxes with a majestic view of holes 2, 3, 4 and 5 at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club.
The cost of the lot is out of my price range at $995,000, but I see it as a perfect fit for anyone looking to move into the Bay Hill community or wanting a home alongside a prestigious golf course. For more information and an Executive Summary, contact Krish Pillay at 407.721.8249 or email him at

This story is a little off topic from Orlando golf news, but it does affect an area golf course and shows the uniqueness of Central Florida golf courses.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club is utilizing its rugged terrain in a unique way. For the first time, portions of the resort and areas around the golf course will play host to a US Cycling Federation event.
The Central Florida Criterium Cup, an avant-garde mountain bike race, expects over 100 riders to participate and is put on by the Orlando Bike and Social Club. The two-day event is slated for Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st.
Golfweek’s Golfest, the nation’s largest outdoor golf lifestyle extravaganza and demo day, will kick off its upcoming 2010 event series by returning to Orlando for its seventh consecutive year. This popular event, hosted by Golfweek, will be held Jan. 23-24 at a brand-new location, ChampionsGate Golf Club – one of Orlando’s premier golf destinations. “We are thrilled to host Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando at ChampionsGate Golf Club this year,” said Armand Cimaroli, director of events. “Thanks to the direct connection the event has with avid golf consumers and those who live the golf lifestyle, Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando has always been a huge success. And now, with ChampionsGate coming on board, we are sure to have our best event ever.”
Presented by Winn Grips and held just days before golf’s annual PGA Merchandise Show, Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando allows attendees to try and buy golf’s latest and greatest equipment, apparel and accessories – even before the pros do – while also enjoying golf trick-shot artists, longdrive exhibitions, clinics by world-renowned golf instructors, prize drawings, contests, food, games and fun for the entire family.
